    Faith, Hope, Charity (Love)

    (b. 1696, Gent, d. 1778, Nivelles)
    Flemish sculptor who went to London in 1717 to work with his fellow Fleming Scheemakers. In 1728 they went to Italy together, where Delvaux spent several years, on and off, before returning to Brussels, where he got a Court appointment in 1733. In Brussels he made a large number of statues for churches, several important pulpits (e.g. Ghent Cathedral, 1745), and a number of tombs; he worked on two tombs in Westminster Abbey with Scheemakers.
